Subject Examination German/German Language

In the Bachelor Programme for Teacher Education for Secondary Schools (General Education) and in the Bachelor's Degree Programme German Studies, a subject examination in the field of German language must be taken. The subject examination is a written examination in which basic theoretical knowledge and practical mastery of the norms of the standard German language must be demonstrated.

Subject Examination German

The Subject Examination German applies to the Bachelor Programme for Teacher Education for Secondary Schools (General Education) (all curriculum versions). It lasts 180 minutes and comprises 4 questions with the following tasks:

  • Orthography: Correction of an error text and justification of 3 error corrections
  • Grammar: Morphological analysis of 3 word forms from an example sentence and syntactic analysis of 2 complex sentences
  • Text linguistics: analysis of a text with regard to cohesive devices, text function, text type and another text dimension
  • Essay on a topic from the field of language and communication: Based on one or more impulse texts, an argumentative text of 250 words (± 30 words tolerance) on the set topic.

Subject Examination German language

The Subject Examination German Language applies to the Bachelor's Degree Programme German Studies (2020W). It lasts 135 minutes and comprises 3 questions with the following tasks:

  • Orthography: Correction of an error text and justification of 3 error corrections
  • Grammar : Morphological analysis of 3 word forms from an example sentence and syntactic analysis of 2 complex sentences
  • Essay on a topic from the field of language and communication: Based on one or more impulse texts, an argumentative text of 250 words (± 30 words tolerance) is to be written on the set topic.

Tutorial for the subject examination

A tutorial is offered to prepare for the subject examination German/German language, which takes place on Tuesdays from 13.30-15.00 in SR 47.21 in SS 2024. The current dates can be found in the course DEE.01055UB PS Text Linguistics. All students who fulfill the requirements for the subject examination German/German language can participate in the tutorial and the Moodle course. Participation is strongly recommended.
