Master's degree in German Studies
The master's degree programme in German Studies conceptually presupposes the broad basic training of a bachelor's degree programme and aims to deepen theoretical and methodological knowledge and skills in sub-areas of the subject. This goal is supported by the focus on two of the three subject areas "German Language", "German Medieval Studies" and "Modern German Literature".
Furthermore, the master's degree programme in German Studies aims to consolidate the ability to reflect and judge academically and to practice independent academic work.
Master's thesis
The topic of the master's thesis must be written in the subject area chosen for the specialization (i.e. the subject area in which the foundation module and the master's module were completed) or must be meaningfully related to one of the modules completed in this subject area.
The master's thesis is worth 30 ECTS credits.
The Dean's Office of the Faculty of Humanities provides assistance with all questions relating to the master's thesis.
